Synopsis: Twin siblings Dipper and Mabel are sent away by their parents to spend the summer with their Great Uncle "Grunkle" Stan, who runs a hokey museum and knick knack shop called "The Mystery Shack" in the small forrest town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. At first the kids are bored out of their minds, but they soon discover that Gravity Falls has lots of strange goings on when Dipper finds a mysterious book with a hand and a 3 on the cover, and they are determined to get to the bottom of the spooky occurrences. There is a subtle comedic aspect to the show that older children and adults will enjoy, as much of the dialog is fast-paced. Many say that Gravity Falls is like "The X-Files" for kids. The show premiered on Disney Channel on June 29, 2012.
Dipper Pines - A 12 year old boy who loves to seek out adventure. He is organized and likes to proclaim himself the leader in their adventures, much to his twin sister's dismay. He is voiced by Jason Ritter, the son of the late John Ritter, who was the star of the short lived NBC series "The Event".
Mabel Pines - A 12 year old girl, Dipper's twin, who enjoys festive sweaters. She has braces and long flowing hair. She enjoys making friends with the various people she runs into, and enjoys a secret handshake with the handy man of her uncle's "Mystery Shack" where the kids help out. She is voiced by Kristen Schaal, the same voice of Trixie the Dinosaur in Toy Story 3, who has also appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and in The Muppets as the anger management coach.
"Grunkle" Stan - A grouchy old salesman type, Grunkle Stan is often seen wearing a fez and watching television. He does enjoy spending time with his great niece and nephew, and even takes them fishing on the lake. He is happy that the people of Gravity Falls seem gullible enough to buy his goofy wares. He is voiced by Alex Hirsch, who also voices Clamantha on Fish Hooks. Mr. Hirsch is the creator of the series, which is based on his childhood and a visit to the town of Boring, Orgeon.
Soos - A naïve young man who works as the handyman of Stan's shop. He is kind of goofy and befriends the twins, often tagging along on their adventures into the strange of Gravity Falls. He is a kid at heart and loves being the one the twins go to for a ride when they are on a mission. He is also voiced by creator Alex Hirsch.
Wendy - A teenaged girl who works at the Mystery Shack part time. In one episode, we get the idea that Dipper has a crush on her. She is voiced by Linda Cardellini, who played Velma in the live action Scooby Doo films and Samantha on the popular television series ER.
